Engr. Radka Tsvetkova Stamenova

Founder and General Manager of the Meridian 22 English Language Junior High School and Meridian 22 English Language High School.

Mrs. Radka Stamenova is a professional electrical engineer, holding a Master’s degree from the Technical University of Sofia. She has previously worked as a research associate at Energoproekt and has completed specialised training at Imperial College London and the University of Leeds, UK.

In 1990, Engr. Radka Stamenova founded Meridian 22 Ltd., which quickly established itself in the business sector not only as an organiser of international exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad but also as a leading educational institution.

The licensing of the Meridian 22 Junior High School in 1993 realised the ambition of combining Bulgaria’s strong educational traditions with the evolving demands of modern education.

In 1998 the Meridian 22 Private Specialised High School with English Language Instruction was licensed, and in 2009, the school obtained authorisation to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.

Engr. Radka Stamenova is:

  • A member of the Board of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)
  • A board member of the National Association for Private Education
  • Chairperson of the Bulgarian Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAWE)
  • A member of Rotary Club Sofia International, serving as past president (2014/2015)

Mrs. Stamenova has received numerous prestigious awards for her outstanding professionalism and contributions to business and education.

In 2000, she was named Woman Manager of the Year by the Ministry of Economy, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Nie Zhenite weekly.

2007 – conferred the Worthy Bulgarians annual award for her public and charitable activities.

October 14, 2008, Brussels – Meridian 22 Ltd. took part in the establishment of the European Parliament of Enterprises and became a full-fledged member.

January 8, 2009 – awarded the National Human Resources Prize for the year 2008.

2010 – Awarded the Golden Book and the Golden Seal prizes for European Manager in Education and her contribution to the development of Bulgarian education.

May 8-13, 2017 – conferred Iconic Women Creating a Better World for All award at the World Women Economic Forum in New Delhi, India.

Illiana Stefanova

Master’s degree in English Philology from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, with a pedagogical specialization in English Literature. Teacher of English with over 30 years of professional experience working with children and adults. She completed her primary and secondary education in the United Kingdom – in London and Leeds.

Her professional career has been entirely connected with Meridian 22. She has been involved in building the institution since the early 1990s, has been a teacher since the school’s establishment in 1993, and has been part of its leadership since 1997. She has teaching experience at the First English Language School in Sofia and at Sofia University. She specialized in TESOL at the University of California, San Diego.

As Executive Director and Head of the IB Diploma Programme, she works toward the school’s strategic development, maintaining high academic standards, and fostering critically thinking, responsible, and globally minded individuals.

 

 

Emiliya Uzunova

Head of Meridian 22 Junior High School and Meridian 22 High School

 
Educational leader with over 30 years of professional experience. She graduated in Biology and Chemistry from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. She is a mentor teacher affiliated with the university and a certified assessor for the State Matriculation Examinations in Biology and Health Education.

She has 15 years of management experience as a Deputy Headteacher. In her role as Headteacher, she is responsible for the strategic development of the school, maintaining high academic standards, and building a sustainable and supportive educational environment. She works actively to foster partnerships with the parent community and to introduce contemporary educational practices.
 

 

Katya Bozadzhiyeva

Deputy Head for Academic Affairs in Meridian 22 Junior High School

Part of the team at Meridian 22 School since 2006. She graduated from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with a Master’s degree in Primary School Pedagogy and has over 30 years of professional teaching experience.

She is the author of textbooks, workbooks, and teaching materials for the Bulgarian language published by Klett Bulgaria. She is also a mentor teacher at Sofia University.

In her role as Deputy Headteacher for Academic Affairs, she is responsible for the strategic planning and organization of the educational process, maintaining high academic standards, and supporting the professional development of the teaching staff. She works purposefully to ensure effective communication with the parent community and to foster a sustainable, calm, and motivating school environment.

 

Kristina Krasteva
Deputy Director of Academic Affairs

Member of the leadership team at Meridian 22 School. She graduated from Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv with a Bachelor’s degree in Preschool and Primary School Pedagogy and a Master’s degree in English Language and Methodology.

She holds international qualifications in the field of teaching English. With over 15 years of professional experience, she works toward the effective organization of the educational process, the implementation of good IB practices, and the creation of a supportive and motivating educational environment.

 

Stoyanka Vladova

Deputy Head of Meridian 22 High School / Mathematics

She has experience in the administrative organization of the educational process and in supporting the day-to-day activities of the school. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Brokerage from the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies.

She also holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media and a professional qualification as a Teacher of Mathematics and Information Technologies from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. In her work, she supports coordination between the school leadership, teachers, students, and parents, and contributes to the effective organization of the educational process.

 

Gergana Doneva

Head of Meridian 22 Kindergarten

Education specialist with broad professional training and a strong commitment to early childhood development. Graduate of the National School of Culture in Gorna Banya. Master’s degree in Special Education and specialist in Speech Therapy and Auditory-Speech Rehabilitation from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

She holds a qualification in early foreign language teaching in English and a qualification as a Bulgarian folk dance performer. She has worked as a director, primary school teacher, and speech therapist. She teaches Bulgarian folk dances to students of all age groups within the school community, combining pedagogical care, a creative approach, and individualized support for every child.
