The Euro Replaces the Bulgarian Lev – An Educational Presentation at the Assembly

The presentation by Ms. Magi Tulilova, a finance specialist and teacher of economics and entrepreneurship, began with brief historical facts about the lev, the euro, and Bulgaria’s path toward the official adoption of the new currency on 01 January 2026. We discussed the fixed exchange rate, the design of the new Bulgarian euro coins, and the automatic conversion of bank accounts. We debunked myths and rumors and highlighted the benefits of joining the eurozone. Useful tips were also presented on how to recognize the new banknotes in order to protect ourselves from counterfeits, as well as how to navigate the period of dual price display to avoid speculation. The children asked questions and shared their thoughts freely.
