There are things that cannot be taught with words alone. They are experienced and passed on—from heart to heart.

In the spirit of our mission to educate children in Bulgarian traditions, values, and identity, on 18–19 April 2026 the folklore festival “The Magic of Bulgarian Folklore” was held. It was created on the initiative of the founder of “Meridian 22” – Radka Stamenova, through the “Tsvyatko Blagoev” Foundation, named after and dedicated to her father’s cause, and realized with the support of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Bulgarian Musical and Dance Artists, the Municipal Cultural Institute House of Culture “Iskar”, and 128th Secondary School “Albert Einstein” – Sofia.

The event brought together outstanding ensembles, musicians, and young performers on one stage. Over 450 children and young people performed in front of the audience, turning the festival into a true celebration of the Bulgarian spirit. The atmosphere was lively, authentic, and emotional – exactly what Bulgarian folklore alone can create.

We are especially proud that the event was organized by our teacher and folk dance choreographer Gergana Doneva – a dedicated professional and inspiration for the children.

The performances were evaluated by a jury of exceptional authority in Bulgarian culture – Stanislav Pochekanski (Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Musical and Dance Artists), Dimitar Hristov (conductor of the Bulgarian National Radio Folk Music Orchestra), Vanya Moneva (founder and conductor of the eponymous folk choir), Ivaylo Ivanov (chief choreographer of the National Folklore Ensemble “Filip Kutev”), and Nedialko Nedialkov (virtuoso kaval player and soloist of the Bulgarian National Radio).

A special joy for us was the participation of our Folk Dance Group from Urban Dance Studio at the arts and sports school for children in “Meridian 22”.

For their very first stage appearance, they were awarded a debut cup – recognition that brings not only pride but also confidence for the road ahead.

The finale of the festival also brought a truly joyful surprise – the two presenters, who turned out to be dancers from the “Sredets” Dance Ensemble, suddenly burst into a lively dance and left the audience smiling and applauding.

We sincerely thank the parents who joined as sponsors of the event and helped provide the awards. This support is more than a gesture – it is part of the community we are building together around the children.

For us, this was not just a festival.
It was an experience that leaves a mark – and reminds us why it is important to preserve and pass on what makes us Bulgarian.
