Yesterday, we welcomed Mark Modzelewski to the Assembly at Meridian 22. Mark is an American actor, director and educator who leads our high school drama club. He studied acting at Fordham University in New York and theatre directing at the University of Essex, and holds a Cambridge CELTA qualification. He has worked as an actor, director and teacher in the United States, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria, and his theatre career includes over 100 performances in a wide range of productions!

Mark shared his journey and experience in theatre and teaching, then enthusiastically engaged students in games and exercises, bringing plenty of energy and humour to the session!

We explored how actors develop their characters and step into a role, and discovered that acting skills are valuable far beyond the stage. They help us express our ideas more clearly, speak with confidence and ease, listen attentively and think on our feet. Drama also gives young people the opportunity to overcome their nervousness and feel more confident speaking in front of an audience.

A big thank you to Mark for this engaging session and for an experience that brought together creativity, movement, imagination and plenty of smiles!
